For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One osprey perched below nest, flew away and returned. A 2nd adult osprey then came up from inside the nest and both birds stayed perched near the nest.
Observation Method: On foot at the Salem Ferry pier with camera and binoculars.

Other Activity: No osprey were in or around nest. However, neighbor that lives on the end of Osgood Street said they have been very active and she observed one capturing and eating a grackle bird.
Observation Method: On foot at end of Osgood St with camera and binoculars.

Other Activity: For the first time there was a very small amount of nest material on the channel marker. Then one osprey arrived with a stick. Then it flew down to the marsh, picked up some grass & flew away from the channel marker over to a nest on top of a utility pole in GEAA Field on Summer St. I went in that direction & saw a very big, probably new nest on the pole.

Other Activity: The osprey remained perched on the nest. He fluffed his wings a few times but really remained very still. I was able to get some good pictures of him/her.
