For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: difficult to tell what is happening - distance, gusty wind, heat shimmer; in the interest of quality data, I'm thinking it would be better if I didn't continue submitting reports for this nest

Other Activity: one bird in nest; second bird on post perch, flew up to platform perch, seemed to be feeding itself, then flew off with what looked like a small fish in its talons; bird in nest probably incubating, but doing a lot of preening

Weather Conditions: 59 degF, moderately strong gusty wind from W, clear sky

Other Activity: first bird down in nest, incubating; second bird flew up to nest, they interacted a bit, then first bird flew down to marsh, perched there; second bird rearranged a big stick then proceeded to continue with incubation

General Comments: I had always thought that only the female Osprey incubates, but this was a clear instance of it being handed off from one bird to the other - might it have something to do with this possibly being a second nesting effort?

General Comments: Still cannot see into nest but hope she is sitting on an egg.
