General Comments: The parents are showing some new skills. As in past years, Pauline is shading the chicks with her wings. But I notice they have berm built up one side of the nest that is facing the setting sun. The chicks stay on the berm side thus getting more shade. Yesterday, the parents were periodically leaving the nest and roosting nearby. The chicks immediately duck down behind the berm and jump for joy when a parent returns. It seems like they are altering leave times, gradually increasing the time.
