For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: one adult on nest perch, second adult flew in with fish and then went down to the post perch; three large juvs feeding themselves, two of them did lots of wing flapping

Other Activity: one adult on post perch, one at the nest - arranging sticks and seemed to be tending to something; then one head of a small chick popped up :-)

General Comments: I think this confirms a repeated nesting - I'll be eager to see if there are more small chicks

General Comments: Yay, that third chick finally popped its head up! It was lagging behind the other two for a while, then not visible in the nest. This time I was able to see only its head. But that's good news!

Other Activity: 2 chicks/fledglings on nest. Think someone else saw them fledge but they were back on nest. no adults seen. One stood up and flapped its wings and flew/hopped around the edge of the nest!

Weather Conditions: Warm, light air, partly cloudy, light breeze

Observation Method: Visual, from house

General Comments: The 3 chicks have grown considerably and begin to come into proper plumage. They continue to test wings, but to date have not been able to elevate into the air. Female still present on nest most of the time. Occasional flights of a few minutes or so. Male still attentive and present.
