For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Fledgling arrived with a fish just as we set up to watch. Looks like the smallest of the three and is still relatively small but is feeding itself. Neither the other two fledglings nor the adult were around.

Other Activity: Adult male perched on rocks below nest. Also noted two adults perched on dayboards for Little Aquavitaes and one adult perched on pole at the Endeavors nest. This last is difficult to see from Winter Island.

General Comments: This nest has produced 3 offspring. All three have now fledged. One is presently feeding in the nest. All three still tend to return regularly, as does the female. The male has not seemed to be around in recent days.

General Comments: What a show a fledgling put on! First time I’ve seen her fly. From light post to light post. Lots of taking off and landing plus circling around. A strong flyer! Both parents around watching and other nestling still in the nest. Very exciting to see! On Sunday neither appeared to have fledged but were on edge of nest flapping. Hope to see second in flight soon. Both appear to be female.

Weather Conditions: 73°/clouds / winds 9 mph from the East/Southeast. Gust to 15.

Other Activity: Single perched in marsh and another flew over towards the nest - the initial bird flew to perch on the nest - while the second peered down into the nest to check it out. Two others perched in far transmission towers

Observation Method: Pulled into Wheelabrator turnaround lot. Viewed through fence with binoculars.
