For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One of the fledglings was quietly perched on the nest perch and one on the nearby perch. They looked like adults until I got close and could see the lighter tips of the wing feathers on both. They remained perched.

Other Activity: When passing by at 6:15 AM, the nest and perch were empty and empty when checking from Brophy. By 7 one osprey was perched on the outer perch, and remained.

Other Activity: The fledglling was perched in the nest. Another osprey was perched in a dead pine not far away on Round Island. The fledgling started calling, and continued as I departed the area, but no adult came to the nest.

Other Activity: Observed before and after Dean, and checked from Dean. Initially the fledgling was perched quietly on the nest perch, and the adult was on a post by the hut. The fledgling began calling on the way back from Dean, and the adult came over from the post, but brought no food. The calling from the fledgling continued. On the way to and from Dean, and fledgling was observed perched in a bare tree at the edge of the treed part of Dean Island.
