For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

General Comments: One fledgling was in the nest and nobody else was in sight. After a few minutes the fledgling jumped up to the perch on the nest platform.

Other Activity: At first I observed one bird on the nest but then it flew off and took some loops close to shore. Finally, it reappeared with a small fish and flew back towards the nest and out of sight.
Observation Method: On foot at the beach at Independence Park.
General Comments: I'm assuming that this was the fledgling because I hadn't seen any birds on the nest recently, so I thought the parents flew south.

Other Activity: 2 fledglings on the nest were flying out and around the nest and across the marsh, and then coming in to land. It took several tries for the one that was trying to land on the perch. There was a third osprey in the nest which didn't fly, and I assume it to be the third nestling/fledgling because there was also an osprey on the post nearby.

Other Activity: There were 3 osprey at the nest, and the larger one was feeding one of the nestlings. The young at this nest appeared (in the scope view) noticeably smaller than the adult which was surprising for this time of year.
