For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 47 degrees; partly cloudy; low tide starting to come in

Other Activity: Then the observed osprey came back 10 minutes later; flew over the nest, and headed over the waterway toward Farnhams.

Observation Method: On foot with binoculars in 2 locations.

General Comments: Initially the platform nest and perches were empty. 15 minutes later either a male or female osprey came to, and sat on the nest from last season for approx. 10 minutes, and flew off over the Essex River, heading toward the Causeway.

Other Activity: Ollie was first perched on a tree near the nest where he frequently would perch. Then he went to another familiar tree for at least an hour. I didn't see him on the nest. This was the first sighting this year.
