For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Observation Method: Pull into construction site and viewed the enter perimeter with binoculars.

General Comments: This will be my last observation at this location. No Osprey were reported last week. This platform, a top the Wonderland parking lot light tower and is due to be demolished later this fall. Hopefully, a replacement platform will be located in this general area as this nest produced three nestlings this year!

Other Activity: Two Osprey observed on platform/disk

Observation Method: Parked in pull up area off of Route 107, walked out through fencing and used a scope to observe this platform.

General Comments: Two weeks back, I reported that the platform/nest was empty.

Other Activity: Adult initially perched and young ones also. Later, the adult flew off the nest and returned with nest material. then flew off and returned several times, then perched on the pole. The young ones remained perched.

Observation Method: By scope from gazebo on Winter Island.

General Comments: Nestlings seem large enough to be practicing but don't seem inclined to it.

Other Activity: Flying to protect their territory against a Bald eagle driven into their skies by a Red Tailed Hawk. What a show!
