For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 68 degrees, mostly sunny. Light wind saw 9 mph

Other Activity: Encounted an unsettled scene on arrival. Two ospreys flying at each other aggressively in area around nest and general vicinity. Eventually the intruder took off and make went to nest where female popped up. She had been low in nest. Male stayed a while but then vocalized at a runner near nest and flew to the nearby fish eating pole where he remained on alert.

Other Activity: nest has been rearranged this year, sightline obscured by branches from the Paint Factory angle. but one ospr seems to be on the nest; one bird either stood up and rustled around a min or two, or its mate flew in and left when I wasn’t looking.

Other Activity: Female appeared to be eating, male arrived with much nesting material (twigs).

Observation Method: Binoculars from grass adjacent to parking lot across from rotary.

General Comments: We had to see if they were well relocated. They are on a telephone pole dish outside of the construction site next to the rotary and seem to be doing well.
