For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: Temp about 50, little to no wind, partly to mostly cloudy
Other Activity: Initially 2 osprey were on the platform. Then 1 flew in and chased them both off and came back and landed on the nest. It then flew off. For several minutes and osprey was calling repeatedly from down in the marsh, and a second was perched on a refuge sign in the marsh. Eventually the 2 osprey returned to the nest and post.

Other Activity: As I was heading across the causeway leaving Plum Island, I observed an osprey flying across the marsh carrying a stick. It brought the stick into the nest at the new platform.

Other Activity: female lying low in nest, male near by sitting in marsh, Male flew up to nest and mated with the female inside. Male flew away and flew around the platform then came back to the nest and mated again
