For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Other Activity: My neighbor observed 5 ospreys hanging out over the river and circling. This was her first sighting of the year.

General Comments: a pair of bald eagles have been perching on Platform 1 regularly and mated about 3 weeks ago. Will there be a contest when the resident ospreys return?

Other Activity: plenty of: Great Egrets, gulls, ducks - Black Ducks, Buffleheads, a Snowy Egret, a hawk soaring, and other birds flying around...

General Comments: One osprey was perched on the pole in the playground just in front of our house singing & chirping for the whole half hour. Another was in their favorite tree across the river answering him. The 3rd was on the nest.
