For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One osprey perched in nest and another one on the marsh below the nest. Another is also in a tree...not sure if it is an offspring or a challenger.

Weather Conditions: Temp about 50, light NW wind, partly cloudy

Other Activity: Observed the nest from the Hellcat Dike, from the Bill Forward blind and then from the Pines Trail. From the first 2 sites, there was just 1 osprey perched. From the Pines Trail overlook, there were 2 perched and then 1 took off. There is still very little nesting material on the platform.

Weather Conditions: Haze, some clouds, 45 going to be warmer today, finally

Other Activity: All quiet and still..for a change

Observation Method: Home

General Comments: morning ritual of copulation, then smaller off to get food while the larger got more detailed with the inside of the nest. Smaller retuned to stand on larger (on perch) & gaze around, fully standing. Off it flew. Back with food. Larger is eating now while smaller is out flying around.

Other Activity: 1 adult appears to be incubating, sitting low in the nest. The second adult was perched on rim, leaving the nest after about 5 minutes into observation
