For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Weather Conditions: 58 degrees, no wind

Other Activity: Slight changes in behavior. Male is spending much more time in the nest with the female over the past few days. They still swap places but now the process is much more refined. Instead of one flying off while the other flies in to sit on the eggs, they now carefully do an exchange side by side with one having wings spread over the eggs as the swap occurs.

General Comments: Olivia was incubating and Ollie was perched on the nest. A couple of hours later Olivia was in a nearby tree while Ollie relieved her in the nest. There is a lot of heavy trucking and noise on the rail trail and in the lot where the pole is but it doesn't seem to bother them.

Observation Method: On foot

General Comments: Upon arrival we noticed one osprey moving about in the nest. At 12:58 PM the second osprey arrived at the nest and within a short period of time departed the nest. Due to the angle and distance to the nest we are not able to determine if the nest has eggs.
