For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: One adult osprey perched on an otherwise empty nest. About 20 later, fledgling in the nest and adult perched on the nest. Watch the fledgling fly off the nest, retrieve a stick from the marsh and bring the stick to the nest.

Other Activity: Two nestlings in nest; I have yet to gather any evidence that they have fledged as I have not seen them off of the nest. One nestling did spread his wings and hop from one side of the nest to the other. Both adult birds were alternating between flying above the nest, landing on the driftwood on the marsh and landing on the nest for brief periods.

Other Activity: One nestling flapped its wings so much it started hovering over nest a foot or so. Then dropped back into nest. Adult osprey then flew out of nest as if to convince it to fly towards it. It then flew back to the perch pole on the side of nest platform
