For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: 1 adult and one nestling visible on nest at “MAR-02 Great Aquivitae Daymarker, Marblehead“ for most of observation period, both periodically preening. Only once or twice was second nestling seen, briefly poking its head up. No sign of second adult.

Other Activity: Female perched on nest after feeding chicks suddenly dove toward the outlet of Mill Creek to attack a great blue heron. The female dove 5 times and the heron squawked and held its ground. Then the male which had been perched on platform 3 carried out 4 more diving attacks on the heron. The heron stood its ground and the ospreys ceased their attacks

General Comments: The osprey are feeding the chicks heavily with both the female and male bringing fish. The female is leaving the nest occasionally, but does not stay away for a long time. The chicks are maturing rapidly.

Other Activity: Female was perched, chicks up and down. Female started to feed the young then quit and left for 20 minutes. She returned empty handed but male returned later with a catch. He left and she resumed feeding.
