For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: Two ospreys fighting over the nest. Male drove intrude off and returned to perching on nest.

Weather Conditions: 41℉ down to 37℉; mostly cloudy; steady moderate wind

Other Activity: One osprey perched on top branch of tree to the right of nest tree. Observed that it was a large bird with white chest feathers, dark feathers on back, a hooked beak and a little pudgy in chest area. (I think it was the female.) Only movement was gradual turning around on branch with no wing flutter. When three small birds perched on tree to left of nest, the osprey observed them but did not seem disturbed and did not move off own perch. No sight of the other osprey.
