For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: 1 adult and 2 juveniles were together on a big piece on a big piece of driftwood in the grassy marsh. Other adult was far away perched on a stake near the #1 nest platform

Other Activity: The three Ring's Island ospreys are perched on 3 different platforms. They are all still defending their territory. I hear warning calls and see intruding ospreys flying around the nest platform frequently. Often there are as many as 8 ospreys milling around in the air near the platforms It will be interesting to see when the urge to migrate overcomes the urge to defend the nest territory.

Other Activity: The adult kept lifting off the nest to defend against a couple of gulls. For the first time I thought I could see a chick pop up. Unknown size. The one adult was definitely defending the nest.

Weather Conditions: 77 degrees, not humid, sunny, no breeze, high tide, beautiful!
Other Activity: Upon arrival, I observed 1 adult and the Fledgling soaring around the nest area. At 11 AM, the Fledgling carrying a fish and calling loudly, flew by the nest, around the nest area, and over me! This went on for about 4 minutes and then s/he flew off over the trees to the left.
