Nest Name:
ROW-07 - Sawyers Island Platform

Adult Osprey Activity Observed:
Osprey Incubating Eggs or Chicks

Location, Date & Time of Observation:
2019-05-30
11:58 AM to 12:45 PM

Number of Nestlings Visible: 0

Number of Fledglings Visible: 0

Weather Conditions: 60 degrees, overcast, a little sun starting to poking thru, high tide, creeks full, nice day, breezy on the marsh

Other Activity: When I arrived, the male Osprey was delivering a stick to the nest, then perched on the marsh perch. Female incubating on the nest. 2 Turkey vultures soaring around the nest area, then across Sawyer's Creek to perch on the marsh w/2 other T. Vultures. More T. Vultures soaring to the far right of the nest area. At 12:15 the male O flies off the marsh perch, 2 other O's soaring with him and off. The female flies off the nest at 12:20, I'm tracking her with bins and am surprised to see her join 3 O's perched on a group of 6 snags in front of houses on Sawyers Island! They all fly off, the female flies back to the nest and resumes incubating. She was off the nest for 3 minutes. There were plenty of Osprey chirps during this visit, but no alert or alarm calls.

Observation Method: on foot, down on the marsh

General Comments: Back at the parking spaces, a nature photographer had arrived, and introduced himself. He is from New Hampshire.
