For more than 15 years, Greenbelt has been dedicated to Osprey conservation through the construction and maintenance of nesting platforms, data collection, public education, and collaborative research efforts aimed at protecting this once endangered species. Volunteers submit their sightings online, and the most recent sightings are displayed in real-time.

Other Activity: A remarkable sight. Resident female perched on nest on Platform 1. One male osprey is flying toward the nest carrying a fish and another male osprey is also flying toward the nest at another angle carrying nesting material. The fish-carrying male lands on the nest and is welcomed by the female, then turns as the second male carrying nesting material approaches and flies up to challenge the intruder. The intruder retreats fairly quickly and the fish-carrying male returns to the nest, still carrying the fish. The pair is perching together a lot and mating frequently. Some nest-building took place later in the day.

Other Activity: Single adult Osprey parched a nest. After five minutes, second adult Osprey flew overhead. Perched on following limb approximately 50 feet from nest. Feeding self prey.
