Update #10

Osprey Blog

No eggs yet for Annie and Squam, but it’s only a matter of time. Last year, the first egg arrived on April 27, so I fully expect Annie to lay her first egg any day now—likely before the end of April. The nest is looking excellent: the perimeter is well built up, and the nest cup is nicely lined and ready. Annie appears more than ready to settle in on a clutch of eggs.

It still seems to me that the season is unfolding a bit later than usual. Several nests that were active in 2024 have yet to show any signs of returning Osprey. I have to remind myself that it's still April, and it's likely that not all of the birds have made it back to their breeding grounds yet. In another two weeks, we should have a much clearer picture of which nests are active across the region.

Thanks for the awesome photo Steve Pucci.
