Help Conserve 66 Acres in Hamilton

Ecologically Rich Land Located at 133 Essex Street/Chebacco Woods
After years of discussions, Greenbelt has the opportunity to permanently protect 66 acres of land at 133 Essex Street in Hamilton, adjacent to Chebacco Woods. This property has long been a conservation priority, and its protection will significantly expand the conserved landscape of Chebacco Woods, including a well-established trail network cherished by the community.
This property has been the focus of considerable development pressure in recent years, and we now face a narrow window to raise the $3.7 million purchase price. With a closing deadline in late January, we must secure funding commitments this fall to ensure this land is protected forever.
With your help, we can achieve this goal and create a meaningful, lasting impact for the community!

Conserving This Land Will
- Protect and expand Chebacco Woods, a beloved resource treasured by the community for generations
- Safeguard clean water and the health of Beck Pond and the Chebacco watershed
- Support active local agriculture
- Preserve vernal pools and wildlife habitat
- Re-open trails for year-round recreation
Funding Need
To date, generous supporters have committed $1,000,000 in private donations toward the $3,700,000 needed to permanently protect this property. Our goal is to raise the remaining $2.7 million by December 31, 2025.
