With the crisp air and vibrant fall colors soon upon us, now is a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. As you explore trails across the region this time of year, remember that the Massachusetts deer hunting season (archery only) opens in Essex County on October 7 and closes on November 27. Hunting is prohibited on Sundays. For your safety and that of your four-legged companions, we strongly encourage wearing some sort of brightly colored hat, vest, or jacket while hiking anywhere in the region this time of year. Deer hunting is allowed on selected Greenbelt properties only and is restricted to archery equipment throughout the full season.
