Wild Edibles

When: Wednesday, June 28th from 6-8 pm

Where: Cox Reservation, 82 Eastern Avenue, Essex

RSVP

Essex County is home to over 100 species of edible wild plants.

These range from native species, like Beach Plum and Shagbark Hickory, to non-natives like Day Lilies and Sow Thistle.

Many of these species are more nutritious and/or flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. During this walk, you will learn about at least 18 different species of wild edibles.

Keys to the identification of each species will be provided, along with information on edible portions, seasons of availability and preperation methods, along with guidelines for safe and environmentally-responsible foraging.

Don't miss your chance for an interactive and fun way to spend an early summer night! For more information, email christine@ecga.org or call 978-768-7241.
