Happening on February 22, 2017 - February 22, 2017
Come join us as we partner with the YMCA/North Shore's Y Connections walking group for an invigorating late winter hike from Willowdale Meadow through Willowdale Mill Reservation on February 22nd.
We will meet at the entrance to Willowdale Mill off of Winthrop Road in Hamilton, and hike throughout that property. The hike will then continue into Bradley Palmer State Forest where the group will traverse the trails around the area, allowing you to take in the peaceful setting of the Ipswich River in the calm of winter.
We will start at 9:30 am, and the walk will conclude by 11 am. Parking is available on the side of Winthrop Road.
Willowdale Meadow is situated in the heart of Willowdale State Forest and consists of forested upland, early succesional meadows, freshwater wetlands, and a certified vernal pool. As a whole, this combined forested landscape contains a level of plant and animal diversity that is rarely found in the larger metropolitan Boston area.
Willowdale Mill sits adjacent to Willowdale Meadow, and offers 1,500 feet of trails along the Ipswich River. As you walk through this property you will become immersed in surroudning woodlands filled with white pines, cedars, and hemlocks that will offer a different natural experience.
