Since 1961, Greenbelt has helped landowners, farmers, cities, towns and organizations realize their land conservation vision. As a result of our combined efforts, we have protected over 14,000 acres of land.
- The Greenbelt Reservation System is comprised of over 5,000 acres that we own and manage. Most of these properties are open for walking, running, hiking, biking, horseback riding, x-country skiing, and many other outdoor activities.
- We hold nearly 200 conservation restrictions, permanently protecting an additional 5,000 acres, owned by private individuals, municipalities or organizations.
- We have helped conserve thousands of additional acres with a variety of partners across Essex County.
