STEWARDSHIP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Property Monitoring Program

The Volunteer Property Monitor Program was started in the 1980s, enlisting our membership to assist Greenbelt's land stewardship staff with the management of our expanding land holdings. The program has grown through the years to include dozens of committed individuals. The monitor program is founded on the idea that while you are visiting your favorite Greenbelt property you can serve as "our eyes and ears." Your observations and experiences at an assigned property then get conveyed back to the stewardship staff via email, phone or mail. The ability of our monitors to share their observations with the stewardship staff is what makes the program successful. Please see the property monitors webpage for more detailed information. If you are interested in joining the Property Monitoring program, please contact Kate Walton.

Volunteer Gardeners

Greenbelt is seeking a volunteer garden crew to take care of the many perennial gardens at the Cox Reservation. If you are an interested gardener and would like to help out, please contact Kate Walton at 978-768-7241, extension 15, or email kwalton@ecga.org.

Trail Volunteers

Our trail volunteers are key to keeping our many properties in good shape. The Tompson Street Trail Care Series (co-sponsored by North Shore New England Mountain Bike Association, Dieselbikes, and Sinister Bikes) will take place on the following dates:

Sunday, May 3
Sunday, June 7
Sunday, September 13

These work days will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last three to four hours. Good footwear, work gloves and a sturdy back are all that is required. To register and for directions, please contact Kate Walton at 978-768-7241, extension 15, or email kwalton@ecga.org.
