Directions to Sawyer's Island

Parking: At the end of Patmos Road, park just outside Greenbelt’s gate to the Sawyer’s Island Reservation (21 Patmos Rd, Rowley)

From the traffic light in Rowley Center: Drive north on Route 1A for about two miles. Turn right onto a dirt road marked Stackyard Road. When the road forks, look for the Greenbelt sign marking the parking pullout immediately on the right.

Be careful not to block the roadway, as there is a private residence just past the gate. Please respect the privacy of our neighbors. If you have camping permission (please contact Kate Walton: kwalton@ecga.org, 978-768-7241 x15 to make reservations), set up your tent in the back left of the field, furthest from the residence. Carry your boat down the trail at the back of the field to the water and launch your boat, preferably at high or changing tides. It’s a pretty steep drop at low tide. The GPS link will provide you with up to 10 miles of exploration to do in the Plum Island Sound, Great Neck, Ipswich area and beyond. Trail and Locus Map of Sawyer's Island
