Ordway Reservation

West Newbury, Massachusetts

Total Acres: 55

Year Conserved: 2002

Property Description

Over the late summer and early fall of 2004, the Greenbelt stewardship staff worked to prepare the Ordway property for public use. Fields beginning to grow in with cherry, small cedars and sumac were cleared and mowed, a split rail fence was installed along the street frontage, and a new Greenbelt sign was erected. Earlier in the year a bronze memorial plaque had been installed, honoring the Ordway family’s conservation gift.

Special Features

This property, located along the edge of the historic Common Pasture, supports a diversity of habitat, including open fields, upland forest and extensive freshwater marshlands.

Parking

Park along the road in front near the Greenbelt sign and split-rail fence.
